Title: type of corrosion?
Post by: Thuvaraja1 on October 01, 2009, 08:08:32 PM

Can anyone tell me what type of corrosion this is?

I thought it might be dissimilar metal corrosion(or composition cell), since it seems like the nut is made of one metal which is acting like the anode and the other material that surrounds is acting like a cathode.

Thanks.

Is it in contact with other metal? This white thing looks plastic to me, but it is hard to tell.

this is not an isolated case of corrosion, because moist can also corrode a metal....not just a contact between two metals, even sweat can corrode metals
