What is your initial compound? if it is an alkene you could use HCl if its an alkane you could use Cl2 in UV light

we are learning alkenes - it is a homework problem i dont understand. so the only reactant is HCl?

Fishy was given the product it's asking him/her for possible reactants to get that.  I guess at this point, just combine what Vanquished has given you for the answer.  As in, what is directly above + HCl.  Common addition reaction worked backwards.
