Post by: marika on November 13, 2009, 11:04:43 AM
once these metals are disolved in aqua regia, how do i get the various metals back?

They were dissolved by oxidation, they can be precipitated by reduction.

Ok. All I know about chemistry is what I have read about the subject. I need to have a more specific answer. thank you.

That will require more specific question, as there are many possible ways of dealing with the problem. Adding almost any reducing agent to the solution should preciptate noble metals.

:)ok. lets say i want to get the platinum out of the mixture. how do i do that.

and the silver. i have heard that the liquid should be dried out over low heat, then the silver forms a "crystal"? is that so?

thank you very much  ???

Are you actually doing this?

As far as Gold....

Once you have used the aqua regia on the gold and the process is complete.

The excess nitric acid must be neutralized with urea to  PH 1 +/- 0.4 then drop the gold with SMB.

* SMB - Sodium Meta Bisulfite plus water = 28.3 grams sodium meta bisulfite, 240 ml H20.
