Title: Zinc-air battery problem???
Post by: ticmmae on December 06, 2009, 08:15:14 PM
Air Cathode
Zinc Anode

Net transformation: Zn(s) + 0.5O2(g) -> ZnO(s)

C) What is the energy density (measured as energy in kJ that can be obtained from 1 kg of the metal) of the zinc electrode?

D) If a current of 2.1 x 10^5 A is to be drawn from a zinc-air battery system, what volume of air (in liters) would need to be supplied to the battery every second? Assume the temperature is 25 Celsius and a partial pressure of oxygen is 0.21 atm.

Thanks!
