hi all
i am puzzled by a question which states,
element x is the p block, forms tetrahalides and dihalides and it is a metal. What group is it in?
my mind is just :o
can any one help?

Please read the forum rules.
Here is a hint. If it forms dihalides and tetrahalides, the common oxidation states for the metal is +2 and +4. That actually narrows things down quite a bit. Think about the common oxidation states for metals in each p block group...
