Title: Some conflicting solubility, need a deffinite answear.
Post by: Mr.rose on May 17, 2010, 10:37:47 PM
I have been looking for the solubility of these compounds. I could run them myself to test for solubility but i would much rather a published figure.

4-Androsten-17ß-ol-3-one Propionate
17β-Estradiol 3-benzoate

I am trying to find their solubility in common solvents, such as ethanol, methanol, acetate, isopropyl alcohol, etc. This is what I have dug up.

For 4-Androsten-17ß-ol-3-one Propionate:

Ethanol: 1) 750g/L, 2) 10mg/mL 3) 1mg/6mL
Acetone: 1mg/4mL
Hexane: Couldn't find anything.
Methanol: Stated it was freely soluble, which with my Specifications and Standards mean 1-10g/mL

For 17β-Estradiol 3-benzoate

Ethanol: 1) 2.5mg/L
Acetone: Couldn't find anything.
Hexane: Couldn't find anything.
Methanol: Couldn't find anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, solubility data for a variety of specialized chemicals in common solvents are neither readily tabulated nor curated.
