Title: Tanabe-Sugano diagrams
Post by: Zazasta on July 03, 2010, 09:32:51 AM
Hi,

I'm a student of Chemical Engineering and we have Inorganic Chemistry. At the class, we studied Tanabe-Sugano diagrams. Well, I don't understand how we know the d-d transitions. I have the diagrams, but I don't how work with them.
I'll thankful for any reply.

(sorry, if my english is bad, but I'm portuguese :-X )

First, do you know how to determine d electron configurations? You must know this to know which diagram to use.

yes, yes. I know how to choose the correct diagram. I just don't know how I can find the transitions. :-X

by the way, thanks  :)
