Title: What is your most helpful organic chemistry resource?
Post by: michenll on July 08, 2010, 01:16:01 AM
Hi, I am a professor at a small university in VA.  I am trying to create helpful aides for my students but am unsure what would be best.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I have created a testbank, review videos and flashcards.  What else could be helpful?  Thanks in advance.

http://www.google.com (http://www.google.com) :D
http://www.chemguide.co.uk/ (http://www.chemguide.co.uk/) - if your students can get past the language barrier (those Brits use some uncommon alternate words when it comes to chemistry...) this site is an excellent resource.

I find that Wikipedia is great for looking up basic info on substances, i.e. density, molar weight, boiling points, etc.

For reaction help, I stick with textbooks. Wade's Organic Chemistry (any edition) is my favorite, paired with the Solutions Manual.

Professor salary not high enough and you get kickbacks for advertising a Chinese chemical supplier on the internet?

A professor that also has issues with concentration problems... http://www.chemicalforums.com/index.php?topic=42444.msg162304#msg162304
that happen to have already been posted verbatim other places on the net http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100707214649AAe0p0E

Or does not know how alkenes react with double bonds...

Even this post is a verbatim quote from elsewhere
