Title: study or work in the US ? -Job opportunities ?
Post by: diablo on September 01, 2010, 07:31:24 AM
Hi folks,

I'm a Ph.D. student in Austria (native Austrian) and I've been itching to study or work in the USA for 1 or 2 years, once I'm done with this study (probably in 1-2 years)
I have a background in analytical chemistry/life sciences and I spezialize in HPLC/MS and actually I'm working in a pharmaceutical company where i do all the practical stuff for my thesis.

my main purposes are: culural exchange, improve my english and aquire skills that might come in handy some day.

my questions are:

1) do you think that's a good idea ? :D
2) would you apply for a job or a post-doc position at a university ? (I've heard that many post-doc positions require
a kind of track record (scientific papers...) which i don't have )
3) do you know any (U.S.) sites which might be helpful for me ?
4) Has anyone of you ever been in the same/similar situation ? What's your story ?

feel free to write down your opinions !

regards,
Diablo
