Title: Determining Reaction of Atoms using Electron Configuration help.
Post by: zinc19 on December 08, 2010, 10:15:55 AM
Use electron configurations to show the reaction between the following pairs of atoms, producing ion pairs with noble gas configurations:
A.   Mg and I       B.   Na and F

Anybody have any idea how to do this? Thanks in advance.

The electron configuration of Mg is: (Ne) 3s 2
The electron configuration of I is : (Kr) 4d 10 5s 2 5p 5
