Also very interesting, if no one has already mentioned it, is the University of California has not recognized classes taught in religious schools that teach creationism/intelligent design over evolution in their science classes. Therefore, students graduating from these schools will be lacking some of the neccessary classes to be admitted into the UC system, even if they have perfect GPAs and whatnot. The religious schools are planning to sue discrimination.

I doubt the UC system did this overnight. It’s the school's responsibility to change their curricula appropriately.

I don't see how this is discrimination.
Intelligent Design is pseudo-science. How valid can a science syllabus if it were to include religous hocus-pocus inside? It's like saying chemical reactions occur not because of thermodynamic stability but because it is God's will.
If a school supports the Intelligent Design syllabus, it makes you question if it has qualified science teachers holding any key appointments.
Science should be taught as science. Religious studies should be taught as religious studies. Darwin's evolution theory was perhaps the best scientific guess to the beginnings of man. It remains a hypothesis today. The bible writes that God made man on the 6th day. It didn't say how God made man. Perhaps Darwin's theory was a guess on how God created man.
But even for science to unite with religon, there must be scientific evidence that shows God exist and God's will. Until the day that scientists uncover such evidence, the study of science must exclude anything that suggest christian creationism and intelligent design. This is inherent with the philosophy of science.

No. It is a theory. Every hypothesis becomes a theory when enough evidence mounts; it stops being theory when it is falsified by observation or experiment. So far there are tons of evidence, no falsifying observations have been made. It is theory to the same extent as Einsteins general theory of relativity.
