Title: Electrolysis and Brine

Hi,
 
I would like to know in the process of electrolysis of brine, what are the products? and what is brine? ??? and why is it called a diaphragm cell?? ??? and why do they need a diaphragm? what is the use of it? Thanks to all of you in advance  ;D
