Title: Direct-ethanol fuel cell
Post by: The_Duke on January 08, 2011, 12:23:37 AM
Hello, my name is Joe. I am not sure if this right place to put this thread. I am in need of some chemistry help. My question is on Direct-Ethanol fuel cells. I'm wanting to create a phone charger.

Anode    {C_2H_5OH + 3\ H_2O \to 12\ H^+ + 12\ e^- + 2\ CO_2}
oxidation

Cathode    {3\ O_2 + 12\ H^+ + 12\ e^- \to 6\ H_2O}
reduction

Overall reaction {C_2H_5OH + 3\ O_2 \to 3\ H_2O + 2\ CO_2}
redox reaction

How do you get the reaction?
