Title: What is the oxidizing agent here? And, why?
Post by: Abder-Rahman on February 12, 2011, 07:24:13 AM
If we have the following reduction equation:

O2 + 4H+ + 4e- -----> 2H2O

What is the oxidizing agent here? And, why?

Thanks.

Do you know what an oxidizing agent is?

This is Reduction part of an redox reaction.

The Oxidation part is missing.

Oxygen will be reduced in this case.

Probably H2  => 2 H+ + 2 e- is a possible Oxidation equation
