Title: Electromagnetic radiation (picture), help please!
Post by: MrKukk on March 14, 2011, 08:13:23 PM
Can some one help me out with this one?  ???
Would really appreciate some help on this one.

How the electromagnetic radiation interacts with material can be described by an energy diagram. Here is an example of how it can look like. Describe what is happening in the different steps in the picture. Explain clearly what/why it is happening.

The keywords would be "absorption", "spontaneous emission of radiation", "the ground state".

You might also want to add "excited state."

I understand what you mean but I just got into chemistry so I don't know how to explain why each stage is happening?
If you could help me out on this I would appreciate it ALOT!
