Title: gravimetric analysis of nickel using dimethylglyoxime
Post by: weasley123 on April 30, 2011, 10:42:43 PM
Hi all, regarding this experiment, does anyone know 1) why does the solution be kept below 80 degree celsius during the precipitation stage? 2) why is it necesasry to wash the precipitate until it is free from chlorine and 3) the possible sources of error and how to minimise them?

1) So if we are precipitating it what don;t we want to happen during this stage? 2) If we are doing a gravimetric analysis of NiHDMG it should be obvious why we dont want chlorine 3) Just think about it, look through your procedure especially key aspects that involve the precipation!
Hope I could help...
