Title: Help wrt conversion of alcohol and aldehyde to acid

Hai All,

I am working in the field of natural products and as part of my work, i need to convert a primary alcohol and an aldehyde into acid group. My molecule is of phenoxazone type with the substituents of primary alcohol and aldehyde at position 9. Position 1 has -COOH group and position 3 has -NH2 group.

Can anyone help me out wrt the conversion using the extract (wherein the compounds are present).

A popular and mild sequence for the oxidation of alcohols to acids is oxidation to the aldehyde with Dess-Martin periodinane, and then oxidation of the aldehyde to the acid by a Pinnick oxidation.

There are many methods though, the question is quite broad. Try a literature search to narrow down your options.
