Post by: JennLyn6 on March 21, 2004, 05:21:16 PM
which of the following have the highest boiling point?
c-c-c-c-oh
c-c-c-oh
c-c-o-c
c-c-c-o-c

The longer the chain the higher the boiling point.

The longer chains and the stronger interactions (eg hydrogen bonds)

so does the first one have the highest boiling point since it is an alcohol? which one has the lowest boiling point?

I would imagine the first one, larger van-derwall attraction along with hydrogen bonding.
