wanna ask something about bromine test..
suppose that benzaldehyde is being tested with this test!!decolourisation occurs in some of my friends observation..will there be any white fumes observed?like electrophilic substitution occur?or there should not have any visible reaction observed(negative test)?

Bromine  is also a mild oxidizing agent, the decolorisation could be due to the oxidation  of benzaldehyde to benzoic acid.
