Title: Boric Acid

I have some boric acid powder I purchased from the hardware store.  I want to treat some wood against insects.  Can the boric acid be mixed with water and sprayed onto the wood, to be absorbed and recrystalize, for this treatment?  Or will the boric acid simply be dissolved/broken down and become useless for the desired treatment?

No, boric acid is stable in water solution.  You can spray, or soak the wood in solution, then dry to wood.  Depending on how though you want the insect proofing to be, and depending on how well the wooden object will hold up to water.
