Title: Electronic transitions of butadiene
Post by: Winga on November 15, 2005, 02:38:52 PM
In the pi system of butadiene, there are 4 MOs, pi1, pi2, pi3 and pi4.

Is it possible to have pi1 to pi3 electronic transition?

nevermind, I was thinking cyclobutadiene

They are not at the same energy, pi3 is higher.

I need to assume this is "a particle in 1-D box" system for calculation, but I don't know this transition is possible or not.
