Title: Reading NMR/IR
Post by: explodinglunch on April 25, 2012, 12:23:55 PM
I'm having trouble determining a structure from this NMR/IR. All I know is that it is a solid.

From the IR it looks like it has an -OH group. Could the peaks on the NMR around 7 be aromaticity?

Yes, you have an OH.

The peaks at 6-7 look like aromatic protons. Kind of looks like an AB system...

Start with the basics - how many different protons do you have in the NMR? How many of each proton? Can you identify protons corresponding to structures you have identified in the IR?
