Title: Reaction of oil with chlorinated swimming pool water
Post by: atombyitself on June 20, 2012, 05:39:03 PM
Hi, does anyone know the reaction of coconut oil or palm oil that I want to put in my hair before swimming in a chlorinated pool.  Will the chlorine take off the oil quickly or will the oil stay.  I would say it depends on the bond between the oil and hair and if chlorinated water will emulsify the oil on my hair.

I tried searching to find out if chlorine is a emulgent and no luck.  I am trying to make sure if this is a similar case as in a drop of oil in water.  If the water is soapy then the oil does not have a good chance because it will emulsify and suspend.

Any help would be great with chlorine+H2O and if oil will stay on hair in swimming pool?
