Title: Phenol Dispensing System
Post by: Loki on July 13, 2012, 02:58:25 PM
Help please!

I'm actually I Biochemist but I've been working for a company that manufactures primarily material chemistry products, namely phenolic resins. Our chemical engineer just left on vacation for two weeks and our millwright just left as well, leaving me to design a safe and easy phenol dispensing unit.

Basically we have a lab kettle set up to make phenolic resins in a fume hood, but no way to get phenol into the lab kettle without taking it off of the main line. I was thinking perhaps a pressurized or heated (otherwise the phenol will solidify) container with a line directly to the kettle. The problem with this idea is that I also need a way of ≈accurately measuring the amount of phenol being dispensed (usually 500-600g).

If you have any ideas, suggestions, or anything at all I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!
