Title: Is heat necessary when producing CO from formic and sulfuric acid?
Post by: SimpleGuy123 on July 15, 2012, 04:30:46 AM
Most of the articles I've seen say that to produce CO from formic and sulfuric acid, one needs to heat the mixture. However, a few talk of the reaction without mentioning heat as a necessity. Will CO be formed from these ingredients in the absence of heat? If so, how quickly?

Thanks,

The sulfuric acid  will absorb the water and get heat up by itself.
