Hi,

does anyone know the procedure/literature reference to increase the yields of thiols which are obtained by reacting benzyl chloride derivatives and thiourea.

I don't have a reference, but one common way is to add sodium iodide or tetrabutylammonium iodide.  Those salts form some benzyl iodide in solution, which is a lot more reactive that the chloride version.
