Today a science club started at our school. I would like to know if anyone here was a part of such a thing before and what they did in it.
Some ideas that we got so far:
-try some myths from the TV show Mythbusters
-presentations at elementary schools to get kids interested in science
-set up a school aquarium
-montly newsletter
-build robots
-conduct controlled explosions
-some others that I forgot
Does anyone on this forum have any suggestions on how a science club should work and what it should do?

Here is a science club we have in Australia called the Double Helix science club:

The ideas you have so far seem quite good (not so sure about the "controlled explosions" I think the club could function just as well without them.)
What about field trips to "science type" places? Museums, Science Centre, observatory, Zoo, you get the idea?
Crytsal growing competitions are sometimes fun.
There may be grants available from certain places to help set up the club.

try building a functional car/plane model from scratch.
you can try different chemical reactions to provide propulsion power. mechanical means are also welcomed.

Do magic tricks that rely on chemistry or physics phenomenon.
