9(a) Postive inductive effect by alkyl groups on 'b', making lone pai on 'b' more available. Negative inductive effect by benzene rings on 'a', lone pair electrons delocalised into benzene rings and therefor less available.
(c) C19H24N2, 11 peaks

Hey, The answer to the first question is correct.
I do not know how many C13 peaks you would see, I think 11 is correct. there are only 11 unique carbons...(I think)

Both answers are correct, there are 11 carbons in the spectrum due to symmetry. The two methyl groups on the b nitrogen are in the same chemical environment. They will have one large methyl peak.
