Title: empirical formula
Post by: Tom on July 06, 2004, 08:39:30 AM
If a complex has the empirical formula PdC12(NH3)6.  When 0.1 ml of this compound is treated with excess AgNO3, two mol of AgC1 is formed immediately.

Would the formula for this complex be [Pd(NH3)4C12](NH3)2

0.1ml of the compound produces 2 mole of AgCl in excess aq AgNO3. It would be great if you can tell us the amount of the compound used in number of moles, because only the stoichiometric ratio would be useful in evaluating the answer.
