Does neone know roughly the percentage by mass of ethanoic acid in 25ml of vinegar? My calculations ended up to be 0.22% ....is that way incorrect???
-
Mine says 5%. I assume this is weight percentage, but I don't know that for sure.
-
White vinegar here is sold in two varietes - 5% and 10%. Probably w/w although I assume it doesn't make any difference whether it is w/w, w/v or v/v - accuracy of the concentration given on the label is so small that it doesn't matter.
0.22% looks too small to me, 2.2% will not rise a brow.
Show you calculations.

Be careful-some concentrated vinegar that is sold can have >60% CH3COOH

On the shelf in the hipermarket? I doubt.

more then 60 % ????

Maybe you can't find it in Poland, but you can find them-on the shelf of a hipermarket- here in Austria.
See my attach-it says 78-80% (sorry for the picture quality)

Well, I am not discussing with the facts :)
But it is crazy.
Too dangerous for a normal kitchen IMHO.

Hmm... in America vineger is usually somewhere between 3% and 10%. It would help to see how you got your answer of 0.22%.
Some types are sold to more professional cooks with upwards of 30%, but nowhere near 60 or 80%.
Why did you lean a Euro by the bottle of vinegar? at first I thought it was censorship or something, but it's nowhere near the brandname.

I put it there so that you guys can see how big this bottle actually is

Glacial acetic acid is pretty close to 100%, at least the stuff I've used before.
