Title: Chlorhexidine Digluconate Assay
Post by: Optolinn on July 09, 2004, 10:40:56 AM
Hello..

I am trying to do an assay for Chlorhexidine Digluconate 20% with UV- Visible spectrophotometer.
what i am doing is here....just give me an idea.???
Std preparation
1)take analytical grade Chlorhexidine Digluconate 20% 1 g  and make up with DI water to 1000 L. 1000 ppm(sol A).
2) take 2.5 ml of A to make up 100ml. (std solution )

Sx preparation
1) pipet 5 ml of Chlorhexidine Digluconate 20% (raw material) and make up to 1000L(sol B)
2)pipet 2.5ml and make up to 100 L.

measure the absorbance using 254 nm wavelength and compare the results as follow.
(Absorbance of Sx/Absorbance of Std)*(1/5)*(0.2)*100 =       %

is it the correct way??? :-\

The specification of Chlorhexidine Gluconate assay can be found in any pharmacopeia, like USP/BP/EP.
You can download these pharmacopeias, and follow the specification.
