I am struggling with the ambiguity surrounding ppm measurements.
If I have a bottle of say concentrated benzene how would I make a 100ppm solution?
For water, 100mg = 0.1mL. And 100ppm = 100mg/L. Therefore, would I mix 0.1mL of Benzene with 1L of water.
Please help,
thanks

Benzene is not soluble in water. But nevertheless.
The ppm value is better to calculate for the mass. Convert the volume to mass. Benzene has its own specific gravity= 0.88 g/ml
So if you disslove 100 mg = 113,6 µl in 1 kg water, then its 100 ppm.
