Hi Guys! I'm still an O-chem student and i'm having a problem in drawing this compound:
1-(2-methylcyclopropyl)propyne
i can't seem to draw it right..can anyone help me with this? thanks in advance.

that's what i've done using ChemSketch but it gives a different name..

The name you gave suggests that propyne is the parent chain.
So start there.

well, that's what i did but Chemsketch program named it otherwise.. :(

Starting with propyne see where you can add the cyclopropylmethyl group.

The second structure is correct.
In the first one you attached the cyclopropylmethyl group to the wrong carbon atom.
1-methyl-2-(prop-1-yn-1-yl)cyclopropane

but i was looking for 1-(2-methylcyclopropyl)propyne ..Chem Sketch gave me a different one..are they the same?

Yes they are the same. These are from ChemDraw.
