Title: 33% HBr in acetic acid preparation
Post by: kamiyu on February 10, 2014, 06:43:55 PM
Hi there

I am in urgent need of 33% HBr in acetic acid for a reaction (not 48% HBr in water). I wonder if there is anyone who ACTUALLY prepare this reagent.

Thanks!!

I have seen commercial HBr in HOAc offered, but I don't recall the concentration offhand.

Aldrich do it at 33%, at least in the UK (http://www.sigmaaldrich.com/catalog/product/sial/248630?lang=en&region=GB)

Thanks for your replies. But I would like to make it on my own, because I do not want to wait for shipping.

I understand that there is commercial source.
