Title: Theoretical yield
Post by: Ocsw56 on March 08, 2014, 02:50:08 PM
Calculate the theoretical yield of cyclohexanone in mmol.

0.156 ml of cyclohexanol used followed by 80 mg of acetic acid and 2.3 ml of a 5.25 % solution of sodium hypochlorite.

I calculated as follows: 2.3 ml* 0.96 (density cyclohexanol)/ 100 =0.22080 (98.14 mw cyclohexanone)/0.97 (denisty) = 2.23 ml ?

please advise

You cant calculate like this. You need to use amount of cyclohexanol not the hypochlorite
