Title: What if i mix powder carbide with something other then water?

Lately ive had a kick for carbide cannons, these little toy things made way back in the 1930s. They use powder carbide in these toothpaste tubes called "Bangsite". You mix the powder with water and get an exsplosive gas yada yada

My question is what if something other then water is used with the powder?

Like say rubing alcohol, hydrogen peroxcide, soda or even something else that is ALSO flamable?

alcohol and peroxide also have acidic protons, and as such will also produce acetylene.  only diff is calcium alkoxide or peroxide will be byproduct.  soda would not do anything.
