Title: What is p-Cl

While I am in high-school, this is not for school, im just generally interested in chemistry.
Im reading about phenibut and baclofen, a p-Cl-derivative of phenibut..

Simple question I hope, what is p-CI??

Ive queried Google with very little success (strange, because I almost always find my answer).

Only thing that comes close, but with no - between the letters is Phosphorus trichloride..
But a Phosphorus trichloride derivative of γ-Aminobutyric acid with a phenyl group in the β-position doesn't reconcile to me..
What am I missing?!!!

It seems like para-chloro derivative of β-phenyl-γ-Aminobutyric acid

What does amphetamine in coomon with this problem ? Just google structures of phenibut and baclofen. And compare those structures.

Yea ok that was a silly question. I have no one to ask these questions to, and its so damn interesting.
Can you answer one last question for me?

the blood-brain barrier significantly better than GABA"

I thought GABAergic neurons synthesize GABA in the brain? Why would they need to penetrate the BBB unless produced outside the brain.

Haha there are no silly questions, only silly answers :) Im sorry if I souded harsh.

Im not sure but from quick read on internet it seems that as you said GABA is produced in brain and endogenous GABA cant penetrate the BBB. Im pretty sure that there are some diseases where the GABA production in brain is lowered and thats the reason why you would need gaba-like compound to cross BBB (because injecting GABA directly into brain doesnt seem very practical to me)

Can you help me understand how this is: C10H13NO2
When I add up looking at the picture I cant find 13 Hydrogen atoms, nor 10 Carbon. I thought the benzene ring was C6H5?

Benzene is C6H6, in case of this molecule one hydrogen is substitued by amino-acid chain so its C6H5 and there 4 more carbons in the amino-acid chain and 1 hydrogen in COOH, 2 in NH2, 4 hydrogen total in two CH2 groups and the last one is in the carbon connected to the benzene ring 8+5=13.
