Title: Amine oxidation to nitro group
Post by: Mpatas on January 27, 2015, 01:39:57 PM
I tried this reaction today by using a mixture of sulfuric acid/Hydrogen peroxide but i was very confuse during the work up of the reaction. Some papers suggest to bacify the solution first and then extract it but i also found procedures that they just extract the reaction mixture. Is that possible? Can i get my product in the organic phase while it is acidic?

Well try it. Ithink acidic conditions hels to keep the amine in aquaeous phase but it might depend on the specific molecule

It depends. Will the product be charge neutral under these conditions?
