okay, I submitted that bug to the forum developers, hopefully they'll have it resolved when they release their next patch.

And there is still no Next 10 button in recepnt posts. To get back on track if there were more then 10 posts during my absence I have to browse individual forums. Perhaps Recent Topics will help now.

At the top of my screen, along with my picture and just under, "Total Time Logged In", there's a link for "Show unread posts since last visit"....That may be exactly what you're looking for ! :)

Mitch: on track IP screen there are "8: Undefined index: HTTPS" messages - looks like some kind of bug or something.

Is it possible to make left menu more condensed? It pushes down shoutbox and all search boxes  somewhere below my floor level.

lemonoman: could be, but when I logged morning for the first time it didn't show what I expected. Perhaps it was just some glitch on the first logging or something.

Can people give and take Karma now?

I noticed that error and I'm not sure I want to get rid of what is causing it. If I notice a forum slow down due to it, I'll dump it.

Borek, can you post a pic of your screen, I don't understand what you mwan by the left menu pushing things down? Actually, I just loaded ie and can see the problem, that'll take awhile and will have to wait until after I sleep.

works now; many of the old features are back too.

i guess i visited the site in the middle of the upgrading... :D

PS: luv spell check (cant even correct it to "love" i must note heh)

wow, totally awesome:  Warning - while you were typing a new reply has been posted. You may wish to review your post.

i also noticed the shoutbox and search boxes all pushed down, but thats because of the user info; hiding it makes the shoutbox move up.

-edit- just gave u one karma, so it works  8)

Remember I am using Opera, so that's not only IE ;)

I know, but the problem in one is often seen in the other.

Judging from Karma box they don't do anything else atm :)

I know, but the problem in one is often seen in the other.

In my experience it is most often problem with default styles - unless it is a bug.

I know what I don't like - after posting I am sent back to the thread list of the current forum, not to the thread itself. That was the moment when I spotted many typos and mistakes in my posts :)

why has my avatar been downsized to a dismal 65x65?
Title: Re: Comments on the upgrade effects

Spellchecker - sometimes - does strange things. But I can't say when, in case of longer posts it sometimes replaces not the whole incorrectly written word, but its part, leaving additional letters (first and last or something like that) as additional characters surrounding the word.

But I can't say when does it happens - although I have seen it at least twice.

Mitch (or David) - please change 'tweeking' to ' tweaking' in the news box :)

What about enlarging Chemical Forums image? Maybe you can reduce the size of the user info box... ;D

Nice new layout. However, do you have magnifying glasses as well?
My screen-resolution is 1400x1000 and everything is really tough to read.

Go to view in the options bar of your browser if you have Firefox and then go down to text size. In Internet Explorer you do the same thing.

My avatar now looks ugly. It's width is larger than its height. Now it is scaled vertically and it looks really ugly  :(. What can I do about that?

All together, however, I like the new layout. The letter type is more pleasant and it is somewhat more accessible. If the avatar issue is resolved, then I see it as an improvement.

the new interface is ugly.

the mini-calendar is out of place.

I prefer the recent post box and the recent topics box displayed as a page.

the google search bar is out of place.

i don't think there is a need to display user-info at all.

The user info has always been displayed at the top. I'll remove the calendar block, but I thought it looked cool. What do you mean you want the recent post and recent topic block on the same page?

OK here.

OK, I have come back morning and it asked me to log on (even if I was logged forever). I did - and now it states I am logged for 7 hours and 18 minutes.

Perhaps the reason has something to do with the fact, that my entry page is set as http://www.chemicalforums.com/index.php?action=recent

And Mitch - what about this fonts and css issue?

I don't really like the way the subforums are nestled/stacked, and I reckon personally, that the calendar is pointless, as nearly anyone will have on on their PC, one thing I DO like though, is the ability to view recent karma actions, why not add a space to add a reason for whatever actiom? just a thought, as in the past, I have lost/gained karma when I haven't posted in a while, and it drives me bonkers trying to figure out what I did good (or how I was a naughty scientist :D)

Much better now :)

I realised that. :P
However, if I change it with my text-preferences of Opera/FF/IE, all other pages change as well. Addionally, the picture get out of scale (at least in Opera, which I use most). I guess that's something I have to live with.

Mitch, I need your billing address for my next glasses ;D

I think in Opera you can force larger print for individual sites using embedded style sheets, but I am not sure. If I will not forget I will ask Junior once he gets back from Uni.

For me it is OK now, finally everything is easily readable (even if small) :)

Okay the menus and blocks shouls all be at 11px now instead of 10. The Recent posts/topics block is more problematic to change

Title: Re: Comments on the upgrade effects

Sorry, maybe I didn't explain my problem clearly enough because of my weak English.  :-[

The problem I encounter is that I cannot entirely see my avatar in the posts: there are always scrolling bars and only a small part of the picture is displayed. In a nuthshell, it seems that all the avaters are too large for the new foum layout...

Do you think it's a problem with my computer? (I use IE).
Title: Re: Comments on the upgrade effects

Yeah, it looks like its slightly to big. I think the forum does it in order that it doesn't mess with its formatting. I looked at trying to enlarge it, but I think I've enlarged it as much as I can without it taking its own action to keep the current scale with the user's current screen resolution.

Equi: in firefox u can change text size for a particular web page temporaily; hold down ctrl and use the scroll button on your mouse :)
