I think this web-site to be of paramount importance.

EMEA is a European agency that coordinates the evaluation and supervision of medicinal products throughout the European Union.

Useful (and, above all, official) information about human and veterinary medicines can be found on this web-site.

This is the American counterpart. It's probably useful also. It would obviously more specialize in things that are most pertinent to Americans.The European Medical Agency will have things that are more pertinent to Europeans. Although I guess in this day and age with jets world health is important to all.

Still, there are differences between the American and the European regulations.
For example, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) are still different (I heard of Japanese ones too), even if big Pharmaceutical firms produce medicines respecting either, in order to sell product everywhere.

This is also the approach towards the two different pharmacopoeias.

Maybe only small producers, unable to sell medicines in both parts of the World, work in accordance to one series of protocols only.
