Title: R-2-bromobutane
Post by: vimelo765 on June 28, 2015, 05:24:03 AM
Hello everyone, I have been trying to solve this problem but i'm stuck at the reaction with 1-bromo-2 5-dimethoxybenzene and chloroform. I think the first two products (F) and (G) are 2-butene and 2-ethoxibutane from E1 and SN1 reactions with 2-bromobutane.

What do you think?

Thank you for your time.

I think your proposed structure for G might be incorrect.

Do you mean N-bromosuccinimide and carbon tetrachloride? You won't get far if you don't know what your reagents are. Do you know what kind of reactions NBS is used for?
