Title: yield effect from different catalyst
Post by: ikakurnia on June 30, 2015, 02:59:57 AM
i did schiff base synthesis with different catalyst, Fe and Zn. but based on GC-MS yield, Fe is the higher schiff base yield than Zn. any one know the reason why? because based on voltaic cells, Zn is the strongest reducing agent than Fe.
thankyou

but in the shiff base synthesis you dont use them as a reducing agent but rather as a acid so my guess is that your Fe catalyst is stronger acid than Zn
