I recently went to a museum where I found the apparatus in the picture, and no one there could say what it was. Today I discovered a similar apparatus on display on a shelf in a co-worker's office and no one in our lab could say what kind of an apparatus it is either.
Is there anyone out there that knows what it is called and what it's used for?
