Title: Partially Boiling A Binary Mixture
Post by: clutchpedal on September 12, 2015, 12:57:22 PM
If I have a flow of a binary mixture of ethanol and water at a subcooled condition of say 140°F and 30 psia, and I use a heat exchanger to boil, say, 5 to 10% of that liquid, what does the energy balance for that system look like? (not forgetting the pressure drop from the exchanger)

Thanks, I've been super fuzzy lately and have forgotten how to do this sort of thing.
