Title: Adventitious surface coating vs. Self-assembly monolayer
Post by: K.z_z on November 18, 2015, 01:07:59 AM
Hi, can someone explain the exact difference between these two? SAM is preferred over the other and how could we avoid formation of the adventitious surface coating?

Adventitious Surface coatings are said to have undefined surface and intermolecular affinities; irreproducible physical properties and maybe comprised of either single or multilayer of adsorbate.
and for SAM: adsorbates organise spontaneously, crystalline (?), specific affinities.
