Title: Stability of SnI4 and PbI4

Why is SnI4 stable but PbI4 unstable?
I looked in an inorganic text book which said that PbCl4(it's close to PbI4) is unstable due to inert pair effect, and doesn't say anything else. Does anyone know the answer?
