Title: Hobbyists Chemicals
Post by: Cs-137 on May 03, 2006, 10:28:22 PM
Hello, I'm new to this site and I'm a student in high school AP chemistry very much interested in inorganic chem. are there any sources wher I could obtain small amounts of cemical reagents without having to buy them through the school? I understand it's difficult in this day and age to do so, there is a high risk that someone may do something stupid and use the chemicals for the wrong thing. I'm just wondering if there's a way I can obtain such things? I'm interested in the properties of the rare earth salts and their chemisty. I'm interested in finding a secure source to obtain basic compounds of some of the REE compounds, mostly sulfates and/or chlorides.

I'd try eBay/element suppliers.  The easiest way may be to buy the metals, and dissolve them yourself in acid.
