Title: Searching the forums for posts by a particular user
Post by: Bel-p on May 15, 2006, 06:05:18 AM
How can I search for posts (or topics really) by a particular user?

I've tried the Advanced Search but this didn't work.  I put the user name in the "by user:" box but it gave no results, either with a * before the name, after the name or no * at all.

Can anyone help?

It works correctly: eg complex *AWK and option - show as messages

I'm sorry but I still can't make this work.

I have tried putting      *AWK         in the box and I ticked the box "show results as message" but I get the reply "Did you forget to put something to search for?".

I think this is possibly because I haven't put anything in the main "Search for" box, but how do I search for ALL posts by a person?  Is there a wild card I can put in the "Search for" box?

Click user name on the members list (or near any post header) to see user profile and click show posts.

In advanced search:
put eg: complex in search for: field
*AWK in by user: field
and mark Show results as messages option.
Then search!
