Title: HELP-amine system simulation in HYSYS
Post by: gpss on December 02, 2016, 12:42:56 PM
Hi All,

I'm new to the forum and apologise if this topic has already been covered.

I am an MEng student simulating an amine system in HYSYS for CO2 capture from natural gas powerstation flue gas.

I aim to capture >90 mol % using 30 wt % MEA. I have a converged amine system simulation but I am only capturing around 25%. The system must be designed to operate at low pressure (mainly atmospheric), I am having problems with the absorption column operating at atmospheric pressure, I am losing 75% of the CO2 via the top product, some details are below:

Absorber
Inlet: 35oC, 1.014 bara, 560 kg/s, 4.7 mol % co2
Lean amine recycle: 40oC, 1.014
Lean amine loading: 0.05
Rich amine loading: 0.37

I also have a temperature cross across the column.

I have attached a doc detailing some stream data around the column.

Any advise/ help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance
G.S
