Title: SYNTHESIS OF Na4O7P2
Post by: jmarjorie on August 22, 2004, 07:55:05 AM
Dear All,

I would like to know if there is a possibility to synthesise in the lab Na4O7P2 aslo known as :
sodium pyrophosphate/tetrasodium pyrophosphate/
tetrasodium diphosphate,
From Na2H2P2O7, also known as :
sodium dihydrogen pyrophosphate/sodium acid pyrophosphate/acid sodium pyrophosphate.

Na2H2P2O7 ---->Na4O7P2   .?

Thanks in advance,

i assume you already have the disodium version.  i bet you could use a reaction as simple as NaOH to replace the sodium.  i bet you could also do the same with pyrophosphoric acid

Na2H2P2O7+2NaOH->Na4P2O7+2H2O
